Quanah Friends of the Park hosted its Sixth Annual Concert at the Park on October 4, 2025. This year’s event was a Singer-Songwriter Showcase featuring talented Texas songwriters delivering stunning performances of their original music. Attendees at the event were greeted by a warm early fall evening as historic Quanah City Park transitioned from sunset to a beautiful moon rise. The new PUHA letters and definition adorning the face of the pool building served as a wonderful backdrop for the historic stone bandstand.

The evening was capped off with Quanah’s own Darby Sparkman fresh off her appearance the day before at the State Fair of Texas. Concert goers were treated to Darby’s music featuring a selection from her 2024 EP Darling of the Dust.

Darby’s performance followed Bob Livingston, who was a 2016 inductee to the Texas Music Legends Hall of Fame. Bob took the stage with some of the first copies of his new book Gypsy Alibi: A Gonzo Memoir. Bob entertained the audience with tales of his travels throughout his career, which including touring and recording with Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Martin Murphy, and Ray Wylie Hubbard as a member of the Lost Gonzo Band.

His performance included his rendition of “Gettin’ By” along with a firsthand account of that song and others that were recorded at the Luckenbach Dance Dall in 1973 for the album ¡Viva Terlingua!. Bob’s performance concluded with the audience singing along to “You Got My Goat, You Might as Well Take My Dog.”

Bob was accompanied in his performance by his son Tucker Livingston featuring his amazing guitar skills and background vocals. Tucker had himself performed earlier in the evening. His set had included his songs “City of Gold” and “Watermelon Sky.”

As the park changed from daylight to night, it was Doug Burr on the bandstand engaging with the audience through his vocal talent and brilliant instrumentals. Doug’s set included “Graniteville” and “Slow Southern Home” that had won an award for Best Song at the Dallas Observer Music Awards.

The evening had been kicked off with music from Dody Lehman. Dody thrilled the audience with a set that included some of her original gospel songs and showed everyone why she has made a name for herself on the fiddle.

In addition to the great music, attendees were entertained with other features available at Quanah City Park with children running and playing on the playground equipment and swings. Food vendors on hand included Los Amigos Paleteria from Vernon as well as The Food Wagon and Mean Pucker Lemonade.
